Pompeii formed In 2004 as an independent music group. Through a showcase at SXSW, we were able to get signed to Eyeball records and went on to release 3 albums released nationwide and international in Europe and Japan.
Challenges in my role included organizing independent tours nationwide, writing and recording original music, create DIY marketing campaigns to promote albums and tours, as well as orchestrating strategies to grow fan base. I conducted market research to find venues, promoters and other bands in different markets nationwide. I acted as composer on all three albums, helping drive the direction of production and song structure. I help create the viral “_____happens for a reason” stickers that went up in every city we performed, including the Los Angeles and San Francisco markets. These stickers were a perfect viral promotion that inspired pedestrians to fill in the blanks on stickers in public spaces, with a link to the band in small print at the bottom.
Jenna Fischer of The Office was starring in an independent film directed by her husband. The film also starred Chris Messina, Topher Grace etc. Our group’s song was chosen for placement at the climatic final scene of the movie. We were invited to attend the premiere at a film festival in Dallas.
